John Horton – A Tribute

The organisers & competitors of the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship are extremely saddened to learn that John Horton passed away this morning. John was a well known face in the rallying world, formerly as a successful international co-driver then laterally as a PR & Media guru and organiser, still serving as press officer for Wales Rally GB & the British GP.

John always spoke very fondly of time spent in Scotland, particularly at the time he was competing on the Scottish Rallies of the late 70’s & early 80’s. He maintained these links with Scotland through the SRC, and has been responsible for providing the fantastic display of trophies at the Awards Dinner for a number of years.

We were delighted when John agreed to join us in Aberdeen for the 2012 Awards ceremony, taking the mic in his own inimitable style he took great pleasure in extracting some rarely heard stories from Malcolm Wilson & David Gillanders.
