With reference to the comments made by David, I think it is important to bring a few details to his attention but I should also point out I am not part of the organising team for the Border Rally, but I am actively involved in the events within the SRC. Neither the event nor the SRC were to blame for the limited spectator access. This was due to the Forestry Commission closing off the forests and/or restricting access due to deep snow in a number of areas which if cars went into would have become stuck, and under the new Health & Safety policy they have a responsiblity to safeguard all that enter their forests. So I don't know how you can blame the event for this.
As to the cars you watched on SS7, they were part of the National A Championship and had nothing to do with the Scottish Championship and I think it is unfair to condemn the "Scottish scene" in general. The conditions experienced were something many competitors had not come up against and they were trying their best to control their cars in the ice and snow. Why not come along to the Granite City rally in April where the weather will hopefully be better and the spectating enjoyable.

Just returned from 'watching' the Border Counties. It was dreadful. I am an avid rally fan, dont get to see many but still a long time fan of the sport.
However, the last 2 rallies I have been to make me ashamed to be a fan and encourage anyone to come along to watch. Todays debarcle was the last straw, poor spectator info meant we didnt get to see the 1pm stage, went to SS7 it was delayed (not unusual) but only 15 cars or so went through, and they were as exciting as watching football.
The most exciting was Bannister in his Mk2 Escort.
Why o why do people drive Evos Subarus etc and not actually 'drive' them? Why dont they save their money and buy themselves something that they can drive. Its terrible, point and squirt type driving..similar to those who turn up with the same machinery at single venue events.
So its fair to say, I will not be supporting the Scottish scene anymore due to the poor standard of driving/spectating (?). Think it might be time to take up a new sport, curling anyone?
