Scott Macbeth and Andrew Falconer lead the 2026 Asset Alliance Group Scottish Rally Championship into its second round, the Border Counties Rally, but they’re far from the only crew with something to defend in Newtown St Boswells.
Fraser McDougall and co-driver Cheyenne MacDonald-Cameron topped Class C1 at the Snowman in McDougall’s modest Skoda Felicia, and the youngster returns for round two alongside a different co-driver. Craig Martin will resume battle in another Felicia.
Max Carty was victorious in Class C2 at the Snowman in his Citroen C2 VTS but won’t start the Border Counties, however early Class C3 championship leaders Alistair Brearley and Richard Wardle will.
The Class C5 battle was one of the most hotly-contested at the opening round as the majority of crews also contested the Groundwater Lift Trucks Subaru Cup spoils. Jordan Anderson carries the lead into the Border Counties, but will be challenged once again by Michael Grant and Cameron Black (Mazda 323).
Class M1 leaders Alan Scott and Shaina Archibald skip the trip to the Scottish Borders, but fellow MG ZR driver Robbie Wood (co-driven by Steven Brown) won’t. Wood missed out on the SRC Juniors win at the Snowman but did establish the lead of Class M3 in his ZR, while Scott Peacock (co-driven by Craig Wallace) defends the lead of Class M4 this week in his Ford Escort Mk2.
Seeded next to one another at the Border Counties, Craig Rutherford / Tom Hynd and Ross Jarrett / Claire Mole are expected to duke it out for Class M5; Rutherford coming out on top in Muir of Ord.
Oakbank Challengers leaders Martyn Erskine / Peter Carstairs also lead the Class M6 battle after round one of seven with the Subarus of Duncan Campbell and Martin Lock rivalling his Mitsubishi.
Mark McCulloch / Michael Hendry lead Class M7 in their Proton while Mike Stuart / Clare Fraser and John Rintoul / Ross Hynd lead the historic classes H1 and H2 respectively.
For FIA homologated crews, Callum Atkinson is the early Pro2 championship leader in his Peugeot 208 Rally4 with overall championship leader Scott Macbeth’s name currently atop the Pro4 leaderboard for Rally2/R5 vehicles and World Rally Cars.
